@tygerdan, the drop cables, and in fact, most fiber cables have strong tensile strength due to the aramid/kevlar yarns that are part of the cable used to protect the fiber. People who know what they're doing will pull from the yarns and not the fiber.
Fiber optic cable's achilles is low impact resistance. Drop cables are protected by the outer casing from impacts.
